Construction employment on the rise in Ohio

While recent data has shown that construction employment is decreasing nationwide, that's not the case in Ohio, reports the Dayton Daily News.

Statistics for the month of November show a 2.6 percent increase in Ohio construction jobs, with more than 4,000 jobs added over the year.

"What we're hoping this signifies... is that the economy is turning around and that a lot of construction projects on the private and public sectors that were on the shelves are coming out and getting started," John Morris, president of the Ohio Valley chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, told the news source.

Morris added that one of the reasons for slow construction growth around the country was lenders were reluctant to offer loans to companies to get started on work. As the credit market loosens, more companies in Ohio are reaping the benefits.

Those who have seen their business pick up lately, or perhaps just got approved for a loan, might want to check out IronPlanet. The online auction site allows shoppers to browse a wide selection of used construction equipment, many of which is available at a heavily discounted price compared to buying new. Shoppers can check full point-by-point inspection reports before they buy through the IronClad Assurance guarantee, which helps them know exactly what they're buying.
