Study: Construction jobs are high-risk

A new study of workplace injuries has found that construction is one of the more dangerous professions to engage in, as the number of accidents is significantly higher than other industries.

A new study published by the Center for Construction Research and Training found that workers have a 75 percent chance of sustaining an injury while on the job over a 45-year-career, making it one of the more dangerous jobs in the country. That falls in line with data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which found that fatality rates were three times higher for construction workers than their peers in other professions.

One way to improve workplace safety is by updating old equipment to make sure it's up to safety standards. However, this doesn't necessarily mean shelling out for brand-new products. The auction website IronPlanet offers the best of both worlds - the low prices of used construction equipment combined with the peace of mind of a full inspection through their IronClad Assurance program. Buyers will know ahead of time that their equipment is safe, hopefully cutting down on the number of accidents involved in construction.
