John Deere builds massive combine harvester out of canned goods

Agricultural equipment manufacturer John Deere has been awarded a Guinness World Record for one of their charitable endeavors, a massive combine harvester built entirely out of canned food.

The company led the drive this November and used the donated cans in order to build a 60 ft. wide, 80 ft. long, 16 ft. tall S-Series Combine that weighs approximately 170 tons. Guinness gave the company the record for the "largest structure built out of canned food" in the world.

"Project 'Can Do' gave our employees, retirees and their families a tremendous sense of accomplishment and pride in being part of this goodwill effort," said Nicole Schneider, project co-leader for John Deere. "We are all thrilled with the success of this project and that all the food was donated to help those in need."

Unfortunately, farmers can't build their own combine harvesters out of canned food - but they don't have to pay the inflated prices of brand-new models. The auction website IronPlanet allows buyers to browse a wide selection of used combine harvesters and other agricultural equipment to find the best deals possible. The IronClad Assurance program further allows farmers to bid with confidence after viewing a complete inspection report for the used equipment.
