The Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) has announced that it has chosen Babcock & Wilcox Construction Company (BWCC), to construct improvements for one of its power plants in Wheatfield, Indiana.

The contract for the job is worth more than $75 million, and includes the construction of two wet flue gas desulfurization absorber vessels at the plant. BWCC is a subsidiary of The Babcock & Wilcox Company, which actually designs this equipment.

"B&W's environmental project capabilities - from equipment design and manufacturing, to project management and construction services - position us to provide our utility customers with solutions to meet all of their emissions control upgrade needs," said BWCC president Pete Waanders. "We appreciate NIPSCO selecting B&W to execute this significant project."

Construction prospects are looking up all across the country, and company owners need to be ready for any big contracts that may come along.
