Thanks to mild winter weather, construction for the new, permanent Kansas Star Casino is expected to be completed by the end of the year, reports The Wichita Eagle.

The new Kansas Star has multiple phases of construction before it will be complete. First, the developers set up a temporary area for gaming that would be opened to the public shortly after getting approval. That facility opened in December.

The next step, which recently got underway ahead of schedule, is for the permanent casino to be built just north of the temporary site. This expanded area will include more room for gaming, five full restaurants, and a 150-room hotel. This is expected to be open in time for the holiday season.

The final phase of construction will double the size of the hotel and add an area for horse racing, and is projected to be finished in 2014.

Constructing a big building like a casino can be a long process for contractors, and it may involve the use of equipment that they won't need when the job is finished. The online auction site IronPlanet is a great way for construction company owners to liquidate their used construction equipment quickly and easily once they have no further use for it.
