The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians has been lobbying state officials to build a casino in central Louisiana for more than a decade, and the group was recently approved to go ahead with construction on the new gaming facility.

TheTownTalk.com reports the tribe has gained approval for the new casino, and has also secured the loans necessary to fund the construction. The Jena Band has been approved for a Class II casino, which means slot machines and poker tables, but no blackjack or roulette. In addition to the games, the group also plans to build a sports bar and buffet area.

The large new casino will include a 500-room hotel and be built on approximately 40 acres of land. When all is said and done, the casino will employ approximately 270 people.

"It is now official," tribal chief B. Cheryl Smith told the news source. "The tribe is going to build a casino in Grant Parish. We are elated to be able to provide job opportunities and economic growth to Central Louisiana, especially in Grant. We have looked forward to the day when we could share the benefits of the facility with our neighbors."

Constructing a major facility like a casino can be majorly profitable for contractors, so its important that they keep costs low when submitting bids for these projects. One way to do this is by buying used construction equipment online through IronPlanet, which offers a wide variety of equipment.
