The University of Illinois is considering two new construction projects that could be good news for contractors within the state, reports The News-Gazette.

The school's board of trustees will be asked to vote on approval for an $80 million residence hall to be built on the university's Champaign campus. The 155,000-square-foot building will hold 480 to 490 beds and represents the third phase of a massive project to replace the school's aging dormitories.

The other project is for the school's Chicago campus, where plans are expected to be approved for the $30 million Mile Square Health Center. This building will hold space for offices, clinics and other medical facilities that will be occupied by a variety of tenants. The new location will be affiliated with the UI Chicago Medical Center.

Often, getting chosen to handle a construction project means promising that your company can handle the job cheaply. One way to keep costs down is by buying used construction equipment online through IronPlanet. The site offers a broad range of equipment backed by IronClad Assurance, which allows interested buyers to view full inspection reports before they begin bidding.
