The warmer weather this winter has been beneficial for many construction companies, which have been able to get a head start on spring projects. The Iowa Department of Transportation recently approved a bevy of road projects to begin ahead of schedule, according to KCCI.

The state of Iowa has invested some $700 million for construction on various highways and byways throughout the state. The major road Interstate 35 has two separate projects planned for the year: a resurfacing job and a widening of one section to accommodate more lanes. Meanwhile, Interstate 80 will be getting a new bridge, which will extend over Highway 65, necessitating lane closures on both roads. A new road will also be constructed in order to link Interstate 385 with Highway 20. More than a dozen other roads are scheduled to be constructed or have work done during the 2012 fiscal year.

Road construction crews need the right equipment, such as excavators. Fortunately, IronPlanet offers a wide range of used construction equipment, often more affordable than buying new. What's more, the site's IronClad Assurance allows interested buyers to view a full inspection report before they bid, ensure they know exactly what they're getting.
