Take a look behind the scenes with this story from IronPlanet EU about successfully navigating an equipment sales partnership based in Gabon, a small country on the west coast of Africa:

The Ndjole–Medoumane highway project began in February 2011, an ambitious renovation and upgrade of Gabon’s main national highway. This 47-kilometre (29.2 mile) stretch of highway in the heart of the equatorial forest is a strategic route for the country’s regional and economic development. The project, awarded to Bouygues Construction’s well-regarded and highly-experienced DTP Terrassement division after a sensitive negotiation process, includes the construction of four bridges, 78 culverts, 90 pipes, a bus terminal, a truck weighing station and five parking stations for logging trucks.

With the prestigious and large-scale renovation of the Ndjole-Medoumane highway coming to an end over the next two months, DTP Terrassement is now partnering with IronPlanet to sell approximately 300 pieces of equipment they no longer need. The sale of these machines will roll out in phases as the project comes to a close. The machines for sale will include crushing plants, asphalt plants, concrete plants, cranes and more.
IronPlanet is committed to being a flexible partner, working with and around its clients’ schedules and projects. Previous effective collaborations for IronPlanet in challenging environments have included projects in Jamaica and Australia, and it is on the back of these successful relationships that DTP Terrassement chose IronPlanet as its exclusive partner.
With IronPlanet, DTP Terrassement knows it will get fair market prices for its machines, thanks to our worldwide database of buyers and its proven expertise in marketing heavy equipment. All the machines, no matter where they’re located, will be inspected in detail by one of IronPlanet’s team of inspectors. Three IronPlanet inspectors visited the Gabon highway site--in the middle of the forest—and examined the first batch of approximately 100 machines, over the course of eight days. They report that the machines are of high quality and in good condition, due to the impressive maintenance standards at DTP Terrassement.
This partnership is yet another example of how IronPlanet is always prepared to go the extra mile for its clients--anywhere, anytime. Paul Williamson, IronPlanet’s Major Accounts Director for France, Belgium & Africa, went to Gabon to work closely with DTP Terrassement.
“We will go to the end of the earth for our clients,” he says. “I would like to tell our buyers that there should be no fear of buying machines from Africa, as we are following global, high quality inspections standards, and I can confirm that the quality of these machines in Gabon is fantastic.”
