Steven K. Reviczky, Connecticut's Agriculture Commisioner, announced a $5 million initiative aimed at restoring the state's farmland. Dubbed the Farmland Restoration Program, the state will match grants up to $20,000 to those who would like to improve their land and increase their soil's output.

"Connecticut's agricultural sector is a critical component of the state's history and our economy, and we are committed to supporting efforts to preserve, protect and restore our farms," said Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy. "Over the past year we have worked hard to strengthen our economy, adding more than 9,000 jobs in the state in the last 13 months."

Connecticut-based farmers who are considering opting into the Farmland Restoration Program may want to make sure their agriculture equipment can handle higher levels of output once the soil has been improved. They can do so by checking IronPlanet's marketplace for used agriculture equipment. Whether it's combine harvesters or tractors, many items have a detailed inspection report that potential buyers can look at before committing to a bid.
