The U.S. Census Bureau and Department of Housing and Development have released their monthly report on new housing construction projects, and it appears that things are looking up for the industry as a whole.

According to the report, building permits sought for the construction of houses were up 11 percent compared to September of this year, and nearly 18 percent compared to this time in 2010. If this pace continues, it would result in 653,000 new homes for all of 2011.

If you've got a job on the horizon, you need the equipment and vehicles to get the job done right. Although things are looking up for the construction industry, the economy is still tight and many are looking to save money on used construction equipment.

This is one of the reasons that IronPlanet has become a leading auction site for construction workers looking to acquire equipment and vehicles. Whether you're looking for used backhoe loaders, cranes, dump trucks or any other vehicle, IronPlanet has thousands of items up for auction every week.

Unlike other auction sites, buying equipment from IronPlanet is simple and effective. The length of the auction is always extended if there's bidding, meaning that nobody will come and steal your equipment at the last second with a quick bid. What's more, since most equipment includes IronPlanet’s IronClad Assurance, you bid with confidence knowing you’re getting exactly what's described in their comprehensive inspection reports.
