A $4.5 million construction project aimed at improving the quality of life for soldiers stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina is moving ahead of schedule, reports the Camp Lejeune Globe.

The Marine Corp base is currently undergoing renovations to its athletic field and track, among various other improvements. The fields will be getting new artificial turf that will reduce current maintenance costs and improve safety.

"Initially, the project was slated to be completed by late September, but at the rate we're going we should have it finished and ready for use by the end of May," said Tim Cornelius, construction manager with the Officer in Charge of Construction, Marine Corps Installations East.

Although the cost of the project is steep, officials say that they will save more money on field maintenance over the lifespan of the new turf.

Getting construction projects done ahead of schedule is a great way for a company to build its reputation. However, sometimes developers are hamstrung by how much equipment they have. Investing in used construction equipment by buying online from IronPlanet is a smart way for owners to grow their business and complete projects quickly.
