The Federal Transit Administration has given Honolulu officials the green light to move forward with a $185 million railway construction project. According to Honolulu Civil Beat, the city hopes to receive an additional $1.5 billion in federal funding before the project has concluded. In the meantime, foundational work is set to begin.

"This is great news for the rail project and for the community and I would like to thank Senator [Daniel] Inouye and our congressional delegation for their strong support," said Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation Interim Executive Director and CEO Toru Hamayasu.

With the potential for a billion dollars in funding, this is slated to be a relatively substantial contract. Workers in Honolulu hoping to get the job done quickly may want to make sure they have the proper construction equipment by visiting IronPlanet's marketplace. Once there, they can find bulldozers and backhoe loaders without difficulty. Items with IronClad Assurance have been personally visited by a local inspector and given a thorough physical inspection, which may give buyers the confidence needed to move on a bid.
