The state of Pennsylvania has declared March 4-10 to be "Agriculture Week" throughout the state, as officials look to recognize the hard work that goes into growing the nation's food supply.

"Pennsylvania was built on fertile fields and hard work and this week we take time to celebrate our nationally respected agriculture industry," said Governor Tom Corbett. "From our more than 63,000 farm families who produce quality agricultural commodities, to the thousands of jobs connected to the industry and the estimated $57 billion in economic impact."

State Agriculture Secretary George Greig will be traveling throughout the state to recognize farmers and teach kids in elementary schools more about agriculture throughout the week. He'll also be highlighting the PA Preferred program, which adds a sticker to food products that are made primarily from Pennsylvania-grown resources.

Farmers in Pennsylvania or any other part of the country can ensure that they have the tools to plant and harvest effectively by buying used agricultural equipment online through IronPlanet. The auction site's IronClad Assurance symbol allows buyers to view full inspection reports on tractors, combine harvesters and other equipment so they can know exactly what they're getting.
