How construction companies are using iPads

When it comes to digital devices, the construction industry usually isn't the first that comes to mind in terms of cutting-edge technology. However, The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that many construction companies have adopted the use of the Apple iPad in order to make things just a bit easier.

Lee Tucker, general manager for Marous Brothers Construction, told the news source that using an iPad has helped him avoid having to deal with a mountain of papers just to keep projects organized.

"Construction is all about documentation and we're just trying to make sure there's no misunderstanding with our clients," Tucker told the news source. "We can use an iPad to combine a lot of steps in one swoop. We can write a proposal, put it on a ticket, take a picture and upload it right onto the form and get the owner to sign it right at the site."

Apple's iPad isn't the only tool that construction companies need to rely on. Various forms of equipment - everything from backhoes to cranes - go into making a construction project successful. Contractors who want to buy or sell used construction equipment should consider the online auction site IronPlanet. The site's IronClad Assurance allows buyers to view full inspection reports, so they know exactly what they're getting. IronPlanet even has an app for iPhones and iPads that allow users to receive alerts and make bids on-the-go.
