What is IronClad Assurance?

When you browse listings on IronPlanet, you will likely notice that many items have an orange symbol either stamped on the corner of their photos or next to the name and description of the equipment. This lets you know that the particular item is backed by IronPlanet's IronClad Assurance. On listings for a Featured Auction, the symbol is a smaller orange circle with a check mark. IronClad Assurance lets you know that the crane, backhoe or tractor that you're looking at is accompanied by an inspection report endorsed by IronPlanet.

An inspection report shows all the details
IronPlanet sends one of its qualified representatives to examine a piece of used construction equipment. He or she will make note of any signs of damage or wear, whether a loader bucket is missing a tooth or the operator station's air conditioning does not work properly. The information from this examination is compiled into a report that is posted on a listing so buyers can find out all the details of an item before placing a bid. Since you can't inspect the equipment yourself, the report provides you with all the information you need to make an informed decision. The inspection reports are written by IronPlanet employees, so you won't have to worry about the possibility that the seller is hiding details or making an item seem better than it actually is.

IronClad Assurance acts as a safety net
If you buy a forklift that was said to be in working condition in the inspection report, for example, but does not run as indicated upon arrival, you'll be glad you have IronClad Assurance on your side. This stamp indicates that what you see in the report is what you will get when the item arrives, so if there are any discrepancies, you have a window of time to report any issues with your equipment to IronPlanet. The company can help you come to a resolution, whether you return the equipment for a full refund or work out another deal to straighten out the issue. Items being auctioned without IronClad Assurance are typically sold as-is, giving you less wiggle room should something go wrong in the buying process.
