Selling the used compactor
The process of selling the products is fairly straight forward. The seller will first consign the equipment to an IronPlanet Featured Auction. Once the seller consigns the item, he or she will have to send the company the used compactor's title if it has one. If the original title is not sent to IronPlanet prior to the Featured Auction, it will not be able to be put up for bid. However, if the seller doesn't want to provide IronPlanet with a title, he or she can send the company a notorized Power of Attorney form, which authorizes IronPlanet to sell the title once the equipment has been put up for auction.
A group of Territory Managers will be available to help the seller figure out which auction would be the best for his or her compactor. Once this has been determined, the seller can prepare the item ahead of time to make sure it is available for inspection. Since IronPlanet's Featured Auctions are much different than traditional in-person auctions, the equipment will remain at the seller's location until the conclusion of the auction.
IronPlanet's inspection process
Much of the equipment sold through IronPlanet goes through an inspection process through the company's IronClad Assurance team. Once inspectors have looked over the item, they will list all the product's features, which are added to the listing for buyers to look through. In the days leading up to a Featured Auction, IronPlanet will market the product on its website, which thousands of prospective buyers view on a daily basis. IronPlanet's customer service team will also monitor the bidder's preview activity to determine how they can get the best auction results possible.
Process once the Featured Auction ends
The seller will have the option to place their item in IronPlanet's automated PriorityBid section or handle it in real-time on auction day. Each item will be listed in its slot for three to five minutes at a time. An auction can extend if there is active bidding going on, however, if there aren't any bids within the last two minutes, the used compactor will be removed from the Featured Auction.
Once a person has chosen a seller's item, IronPlanet will assist them with the payment process. All of the money will go into a secure account managed by IronPlanet employees. As soon as a payment has been confirmed, the seller will release the equipment to the buyers transportation company of choice. As soon as the item has been delivered, the seller will receive the payments.
