GovPlanet, IronPlanet’s online marketplace for used government surplus, successfully auctioned three High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs), or Humvees, during its five day auction in Orlando last January, with the proceeds going to benefit the Fisher House Foundation. The Fisher House Foundation supports a network of comfort homes where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans.

Today, Jeff Holmes, senior vice president, government solutions and auction management at IronPlanet presented Fisher House Foundation a check for $10,000 during a presentation at Fisher House Foundation Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. The money raised from the sale will help support Fisher House Foundation's network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment, as well as the Foundation’s scholarship and educational programs.

Said Holmes, “We are truly honored to donate the proceeds of these Humvees to the Fisher House Foundation. We hope this donation makes an impact in the lives of deserving military members and their families. We look forward to a continued partnership with Fisher House Foundation and the programs they support.”
