Meet veteran marketer Sue McGregor who is playing a lead role as a heavy equipment auction giant makes Edmonton home base. IronPlanet has sold over $4 billion in used heavy equipment to more than 1.4 registered users worldwide through its online auctions.
The California-based company tested the market for a live auction through its Cat Auction Services brand in Edmonton late last year. Based on the solid response from the local community to the first Cat Auction Services event, IronPlanet plans to hold four auctions at the River Cree in 2016. They’ve also opened a 12-acre site in nearby Acheson, where customers can preview the equipment that will be up for auction.
In her role as managing director, IronPlanet Canada, Sue McGregor has heard a positive response from Alberta customers. “They’re happy to see another solid player in the auction market locally who they can count on to helpmanage their equipment assets.”
The good news for local sellers is they’ll now have global exposure to thousands of online bidders who are buying equipment backed by IronPlanet’s IronClad Assurance®. It’s a successful offering US customers are familiar with. A recent Cat Auction Services unreserved public auction in Florida saw more than 2,350 items change hands at a gross merchandise volume of $94 million – to an audience of more than 100,000 online and onsite viewers.
The future looks promising here in Edmonton. This a “big yellow iron” story with great visuals available at the live auction and, in advance, at the preview site in Acheson.
