Matt Bousky, vice president of IronPlanet Canada and Global Mining, has the backstory on where these items came from and how IronPlanet got involved in their sale. IronPlanet, he says, has had an alliance agreement with GraysOnline in Australia for about two years. “Our relationship began when the mining industry in Australia was starting to come off the rails. After a six-year boom, commodity prices started dropping, and there was suddenly a lot of excess capacity with limited demand. Grays reached out to us to help with the disposition of surplus mining equipment because of IronPlanet’s global buyer base.”

With each influx of equipment from mining companies in Australia who need help offloading surplus assets, GraysOnline and IronPlanet collaborate to get the equipment into the hands of interested buyers around the world.

Who’s buying? “The buyer base is relatively limited, because not everybody needs equipment like a 777G,” Bousky says. “But if you’re selling late-model, low-hour machines like this, at an auction with low opening bids, the word will get out and buyers will show up. These are really nice trucks, they just didn’t have any work in Australia.  So, we’re helping move them into Canada, the Middle East, South America, and even the U.S., when emissions regulations allow.”

The 777Gs and other available items for the June 25th auction are, Bousky says, in great condition. “They’ve been owned and operated by a mining contractor with a great reputation.” All equipment is currently available to browse on www.ironplanet.com with detailed inspection reports backed by IronClad Assurance.
