GovPlanet to Donate Proceeds from Humvees to Fisher House Foundation

GovPlanet, IronPlanet’s online marketplace for used government surplus, is auctioning three High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs), or Humvees during it's annual auction in Kissimmee, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Fisher House Foundation, a charity that primary supports a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans.One Humvee will be auctioned on each day from Tuesday, February 9 through Thursday, February 11, at approximately noon ET.  Check out the three Humvees up for bid below:

Rare Corvettes from Tom Falbo Collection at Auction Feb. 19-21

Among the 40 Corvettes to be sold, the collection includes a rare 1967 L89 Corvette.  All Corvettes will be sold WITHOUT RESERVE during Leake's Oklahoma City auction, February 19, 20, 21 in the Cox Pavillion on the OKC Fairgrounds.  

The collection features Corvettes from 1957-1975, with twenty from 1967. All Corvettes are documented, numbers matching the originals with low mileage. Halliburton Focusing on Higher-Dollar Customers During Downturn:President (Platts)
" The low oil prices of the past year, which are expected to continue in 2016, have led oilfield services giant Halliburton to focus on larger, higher-dollar customers, a top executive said Monday. Those customers typically have "fairway acreage in the [top] basins and stronger balance sheets," company president Jeff Miller said during a quarterly conference call. In North America, where the downturn that began in mid-2014, but sharpened late that year, and has been most severe, Halliburton's top 17 customers comprise 50% of its revenues, Miller said."  Read more

Walmart Foundation Grant Gives Women Chance to Try Construction (Daily Iowegian)
" Iowa Workforce Development, IowaWORKS and Hawkeye Community College are using a Walmart Foundation Grant in the amount of $75,000 to introduce low-income Iowa women to construction jobs. According to the latest "PROMISE JOBS Employment and Wage Report", construction is the second highest paying industry for men enrolled in the PROMISE JOBS program. However, a demographic breakdown, by gender, of individuals working in this occupation indicates that females represent only 2.3 percent of the workforce. Data also indicates this is an industry showing growth in projected openings and wages. Specifically for Heavy Equipment Operators, the average hourly wage is $20.84 per hour. Read more
