truckPLEASANTON, Calif. – October 29, 2014 –GovPlanetSM, an online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling used government assets, announced that buyers can start viewing and bidding on U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) rolling stock surplus assets beginning today. The first auction on November 19, 2014, will feature over 175 inspected items many of which are available for preview now on www.govplanet.com. GovPlanet.com will serve as the primary marketplace for the sale of DoD rolling stock surplus assets.

“We are excited to bring our online marketplace and global buyer base to the government sector for used equipment, including the industry’s only guaranteed inspection reports,” said Gregory J. Owens, Chairman and CEO of parent company IronPlanet. “With our nearly 15 years of online auction experience and a worldwide audience of more than one million registered users, we are looking forward to making it easier than ever to buy and sell used government equipment online.”

The auction will feature rolling stock surplus assets of the DoD, including trucks, trailers, generators, wheel loaders, cranes, crawler tractors and other equipment. Every item on GovPlanet will include an inspection report with a thorough description of the equipment’s condition and features and photos. These reports are backed by IronPlanet’s exclusive IronClad Assurance® buyer protection program, which guarantees the report is an accurate description of the item’s condition. Buyers can preview rolling stock surplus assets of the DoD two weeks before each auction.

GovPlanet.com will also hold auctions on Wednesdays in December on the 3rd, 10th, and 17th. Inventory may be viewed two weeks in advance of each auction.

GovPlanet’s marketplace, GovPlanet.com, is built on IronPlanet’s proprietary technology, which offers sellers the ability to maximize revenue through various remarketing channels, including online auctions, while giving buyers the most efficient connection to inventories globally. Buyers and sellers can manage their fleet assets more cost effectively and efficiently than traditional physical auctions, and on their own timelines.
